vaelmail free or plus: what’s different?
free receives mail. plus adds sending, more storage, more aliases and custom domains. a practical guide to choosing.
start with what you want the account to do. if you need an inbox for receiving mail and separate signup addresses, free may be enough. if you want to send replies or use more space, you’ll need plus.
both plans use the same account-number sign-in. paying for plus changes your allowances; it doesn’t turn ordinary email into end-to-end encrypted mail.
what free includes.
50 mb of mail storage.
3 custom aliases and 10 random aliases at
@vael.pw.receiving at your main
@vael.emailaddress and enabled aliases.basic support.
free can synchronize mail through an imap app using a separate app credential. sending is unavailable on free, including through smtp. if someone sends you a message you need to reply to, receiving it on free doesn’t enable a reply.
what plus adds.
1 gb of mail storage.
25 custom aliases and 200 random aliases.
sending from your main
@vael.emailaddress.up to 3 verified custom domains, with up to 25 explicit recipients on each.
priority support.
aliases and custom-domain recipients receive only, even on plus. they are extra ways for mail to reach your account, rather than extra sending identities. for a business address that must also send from its own domain, read the custom-domain guide before changing your dns.
how payment works.
plus costs €5 for one calendar month, €15 for three, €30 for six or €60 for twelve. access is prepaid rather than automatically charged. renewing an active term extends it; renewing after expiry starts a new term.
open plus and billing to review the available invoice options. follow the invoice’s exact asset, network, amount and any required memo or tag. don’t send a payment to an expired invoice address. your wallet’s blockchain fee is separate, and access is granted after payment is verified.
leave room for the mail you keep.
attachments, saved drafts and other stored mail use space alongside ordinary messages. a receive-only inbox can still fill up, especially if you subscribe to newsletters with large attachments.
check storage before you move an archive into the account. deleting a few old messages may be enough; if you need to keep them, export a copy first. our moving guide explains how to make the switch gradually.
what happens when plus ends.
sending stops when paid access expires. a 30-day grace period preserves receiving and its storage allowance. after that, free limits apply. a mailbox above the free storage limit must be reduced or renewed before it can accept additional mail.
review aliases and domains before that point, especially addresses used for account recovery elsewhere. don’t wait until an important reset email is due to check whether its destination still receives.
the homepage shows the current plan comparison, and the terms cover billing, allowances and expiry. choose the plan that fits your mail, then keep an eye on storage and your paid-through date.
